Workshop on “21st Century Geopolitics & Implications for Trade”
On 23rd March, 2013 a one day seminar on “21st Century Geopolitics & Implications for Trade” was held at the Symbiosis School of Economics.
Experts in the field such as Mr. Kamal Kapoor and Mr. Nitin Pai provided deep insights of global power structures and its deep ranging impact on world trade, security and peace. With prime focus on India’s position and stand in the global economy with respect to emerging geo-political power structures, the experts spoke at length- weaving world geo-politics, economics, geo-economics and strategy into a beautiful extrapolation of ideas and proposals, thereby providing deep food for thought.
The discussion ranged from multi-polarity and economic/military alliances within the Asia Pacific Region, comprehending “The West vs the Rest” phenomenon and the rise of China as a power centre in East Asia, to an overview of trade blocks and energy security. Emphasis was also laid on India’s “Look East Policy” and India’s need to exploit strategic opportunities arising out of co-operation and alliances with its immediate neighbours. All in all it was an engaging discussion followed by Q&A sessions, bringing relevant contemporary issues of significance to the table.
